Here we have a mirror I painted in the same colour as the wall. The shape of the simple dado rail style moulding, was enough to give a contrast against the wall to achieve the effect I was looking for. The only extra I applied was a brush on clear wax, once dried and buffed, it gave a delightful satin sheen.
The idea of wall art, picture framing or interior decoration needing to be expensive, is just not the case. I picked the mirror in the above picture up for free, as a result of frame damage at car boot sale. The frame was removed and replaced with a dado style moulding for pence per meter and painted. Granted if you are not handy cutting the wood, then of course a joiner or picture framer can help.
My conclusion is, some of the most simple and inexpensive things, can have the most dramatic effect.
