FAQ - Picture Framing.Q - What about the quality of your workmanship, can I trust I will get a great job done?
A - There are 3 ways to assure you of the quality of my workmanship. One is to touch and feel examples of framing I have dotted around the workshop. Two I can give you names of the people I have assisted with their framing and I very confident they will put you mind at rest. (See testimonials) Three you will not pay the full balance until you approve the finished work. Any concern will be managed with professionalism and a sympathetic ear to your concerns. I do not do want unhappy customers - it is not just a job it is a love and a passion for me. Q - How do we approach the choice of framing technique and style for my artwork? A - The free consultation I offer to discuss the picture framing project is the starting point of the process. We discuss ideas relating to the picture, memorabilia or artwork. The style, size, colour of the work, the type of environment it will reside in, decoration and styles where the framed work will live. Your ideas, perhaps you have seen a style you may want to copy? Your concerns about conservation (see picture framing section), protection of the artwork in question. We then start to bring the various elements together to build the idea of what the finished piece will look like, but at every stage keeping a close eye on the costs of the many choices. Q - How much does it all cost, after all it is just 4 pieces of wood and a bit of glass? A - It costs you nothing until the design process has taken place and YOU are happy with the free and professional advised delivered. At that point you will have the price of the picture framing project as discussed. Through out this design process we will discuss the price implications based the size and type of the frame/moulding, material choices and quantities, glass type and the work involved and the time require to build your picture frame. We will discuss the price early on in the consultation, so we can taylor the finished framing job to meet with your high expectations on both a creative work of beauty and on the value for money aspects of the finished frame. Q - What is conversational framing? A - A mount and frame should always be selected to protect as well as enhance a picture. Unfortunately, some mounting and framing techniques not only fail to protect, but are potentially damaging to works of art. 'Conservation framing' is a term used to describe the use of materials and techniques which provide protection to framed works of art on paper. There are different levels according to the quality and specification of the materials used. |
